HUGH HEFNER WITH BUNNIES BY POMPEO POSAR
Hugh Hefner lined up with the Bunnies next to the Playboy airplane in the late 1960s. Nicknamed “The Flying Mattress”, this shot was famously recreated by Steven Spielberg in the movie “Catch Me If You Can” starring Leonardo Di Caprio.

Italian born Pompeo was born in Trieste in 1921 and had one of those really tough jobs as a Playboy magazine staff photographer. He got his start shooting black and white images of Hugh Hefner for his TV show “Playboy’s Penthouse”, leading to Hef hiring him as Playboy’s staff photographer in 1962.

Russell started his career in 1981, working as an assistant to top photographers Annie Leibovitz, Robert Erdmann and Bruce Brown, before establishing his own studio in London. He has won numerous awards from multiple organisations, too many to mention here.
