Self Portrait
A rare pre-1985 original vintage print produced in limited numbers from a series of transparencies that Newton considered his most provocative and important work through 1985.
Description
Just study this picture for a moment. Newton is looking up into a ceiling mirror, topped by a model, and has the remote trigger for his camera by his left hand. A self-portrait but without his face being visible, one asks oneself if this is a self-portrait of his personality and not his physical existence, his enjoyment of woman-kind and kinky images.
"It's that I don't like white paper backgrounds. A woman does not live in front of white paper. She lives on the street, in a motor car, in a hotel room."
