New Beginnings
REBIRTH – YOSHIHIKO WADA
‘Rebirth’ is a meditative shot that allows you to focus on a single point. The photo is of the cable-stayed Tempozan road bridge in Osaka, Japan.
GRASS IN THE MORNING LIGHT – TAL PAZ-FRIDMAN
After a night of heavy downpour, I decided to take a hike in the surrounding fields near where I live. I noticed light sparkling in the raindrops hanging from the grass far away in the distance. Although it was still the middle of winter, the energy of life and rejuvenation was all around me.
LONDON SUNRISE 4 – HOWARD KINGSNORTH
From Howard Kingsnorth’s extensive body of atmospheric photographs of London, is inspired by Turner. This is no. 4 from his stunning sunrise series. Howard captures London, as most of us will never see it, arising from the mist.
THE FUTURE – FELICIA SIMION
A girl hides behind a red metal gate, her eyes peer up at something engaging from above.
MORNING DEER – JASPER DALGLIESH
This is a prime example of Dalgliesh being in the right place at the right time observing the morning deer in Richmond Park, London.
LEAVING THE PAST – MATTHIAS HAKER
Masterfully controlling the depth of field between the abstract and abandoned foreground and stunningly intact background, Haker presents an image that almost bridges time. The past and present lives of the building are alluded to simultaneously in this photograph.
COLLIOURE SUNRISE 18 – MARK MAWSON
A series of traditional horizon seascapes taken at chosen moments in the Cote d’Azur, south of France. The works in this series are a testament to the ever-changing majesty of both the sea and the sky.
THE SWAN – JACQUES PION
Pion masterfully captures the early morning light breaking through to greet the swan. The image of the swan gliding across a lake quintessential image of civility the world over, from Japan to France. Perhaps it is best known as a ballet.
CHOICES – MATTHIAS HAKER
In ‘Choices’, Haker returns again to his favoured subject, the romantic majesty of abandoned palaces. Warm romantic lights flood into an intricately stuccoed banquet hall, flanked by two lofty Corinthian pillars and painted in green and soft, rococo pink.
