“The single most important component of a camera is the twelve inches behind it”

Instant gratification or take some time?

by Samantha Warner, Curator, ONGallery.com

This month I’m excited to introduce you to the latest ONGallery artist Chris Tuff. An award winning Producer, Director, Writer and Photographer – since the age of 9 years old.

Chris lives in Cornwall, South West England and with the Lizard Peninsula as his back garden the dramatic Coastline and landscape is every inspiration he needs. Having grown up as a son of a Landscape photographer he was used to spending vast amounts of time in wild and remote locations. The art of waiting, for the sun, clouds, shadows and light to make the perfect photograph is evident in his work.

His manipulated fine art photographs not only capture the raw movement of the coastline but also the raw power and beauty of any landscape.

“ For me landscape photography is about revealing, evoking the spirit, or capturing the evanescent mood and moment of a place – its power, drama, beauty or serenity”

In a world where 1.8 billion images are instantly uploaded to Facebook, Instagram, Flickr, Snapchat and WhatsApp every day it is so refreshing to come across Chris’s imagery which are not defined by friends, family, pets, what we eat and selfies but instead takes time to convey what you think, feel and see. Something we need to be reminded of everyday.
