ONE OF KIND

WATERFOWL LAKE – DARWIN WIGGETT

Located just north of Lake Louis, Waterfowl Lake is a remote lake in Banff’s National Park off the beaten track. Darwin captures the stillness of the untouched lake, using it as a mirror to reflect the scene above. The sun rises above the scene and one can almost feel the cold in the icey lake and snow laced mountains.

REVIVAL MEETING – LEO MASON

An image of speed, glamour and the history of racing, Mason, an award-winning sports photographer, takes the subject of an old yet stunning vintage car. Shot at Goodwood, Britain’s best-loved racing festival. It is just one of a myriad of magical moments.

MEDITATION XV – JURGITA GERLIKAITE

In this photograph, Gerlikaite captures the romantic and whimsical sense of high summer. Dainty, refined and feminine, this translucent image of a flower reflected through the windowsill is both meditative and calming.

SHELL – ERIC RICHMOND

Inspired by the classical nude photography of Horst P. Horst, ‘Shambu’ reflects the links between the curves of the female form and objects of the sea Eric, who specialises in dance and performing arts photography, has captured a wonderful sense of movement in this otherwise still photograph.

TREE LIONS HEAD – JAKE POLONSKY

Polonsky has shot his iconic landscapes across the world. Here, he takes the subject of the ‘Tree Lions Heads’, a famous jagged hill top in Cape Town. One of the continuing motifs in Jake’s series is the use of a central tree to break up and focus the composition. While he has focused his lens on oaks in England, here he takes the subject of the Baobab, indigenous to southern Africa.

FLOOD 1 – MIA COLLIS

This picture was taken on the shores of Lake Naivasha in the rift valley Kenya. It’s part of an art-photography series on the natural environment and the human body. Inspired by the beauty that surrounded us on Lake Naivasha, it became apparent that the trees made the perfect environment to absorb a human body. At the time the lake had flooded, drowning some of the yellow fever trees in the picture.

NOWHERE ROAD – HAMISH ROOTS

Driving through Iceland is one of the most stunning road trip on Earth. Glaciers, waterfalls, lakes, mountains, wildlife and of course the Northern Lights, Robinson conjures up the adventures of the road in this majestic shot. Heading straight for the mountains, one is left to wonder what is in store for the travellers?

KEYHOLE – MATTHIAS HAKER

Matthias is a self-taught photographer who specialises in shooting abandoned buildings, but just don’t ask him where they are. “I do love abandoned buildings, I see so much beauty in those places, but there are too many idiots out there that don’t behave like me. Therefore I don’t give any information about the location, not even the country…since every little piece of information makes it easier for people to find them. No exceptions.”
