BLUE HORIZON – ASHTON KEIDITSCH

Virtually monochrome in colour, Keiditsch captures the blurring boundary between sea and sky as if it was a watercolour. Yet the work reveals so much more than monochrome, as lilacs, purples, sea greens and pinks slowly emerge out of the composition. In capturing all these colours, Keiditsch shows real mastery of the photographic medium.

THIRST OF THE EARTH – FELICIA SIMION

A lone figure stands on the top of a hill overlooking a beautiful landscape reflected in the water.

RATTLESNAKE CANYON – JASPER DALGLIESH

Smooth waves of petrified sand at Rattlesnake Canyon, Arizona, USA.

SAKURA RIVER – SHUMON SAITO

A tunnel of cherry blossom trees is also known as a Sakura river. These trees shot at night in Tokyo, create a magnificent tunnel of pink. The colours radiate off the water, producing a magical fairytale effect. Here, Saito manages to illuminate the cherry blossoms out of the depths of the night, in part helped by the pink lanterns that line the river.

RAIN DANCE – YONG LIN TAN

In ‘Rain Dance’, an old man is cycling the long journey home between the paddy fields, while a rainstorm is brewing up not far away. This road leads to the highway to Pendang, in the state of Kedah, Malaysia. Warm greens of the rice crops spark off the deep greys of the foreboding skies. Alone in this expansive vista, the old man cuts a lonely figure.

GREEN SHADOW – YOSHIHIKO WADA

Taking the subject of a bamboo woods at night, Wada transports us to an eerily exotic forest with a path leading us deeper into this mysterious place. There is a musical quality to this work that draws on Wada’s experience as a sound designer. One can almost hear the bamboo trees eerily swaying in the trees and the rustle of animal life and birds against the stillness of the night.

AUTUMN LOVE – JAN ZWART

This romantic image of a red-leafed maple in full bloom is a fresh take on photographs of romantic images of roses.

LUPINS – JAKE POLONSKY

This photograph focuses on a sea of lupins in bloom set against the majesty of the English moors. Shot with a unique film, stock, the sepia tones grant the image a pre-historic feel.

CORONA – HAMISH ROOTS

This spectacular display of the Northern Lights over Iceland has an abstract and ethereal quality to it. As if a painting, the striations of green and purple are a testament to the beauty of nature. Hamish captures the image in stunning details, even down to the millions of tiny stars that litter the night sky.

VERMILION LAKE – DARWIN WIGGETT

This majestic shot of a mountainous landscape foregrounded by a calm lake was taken at sunrise. Darwin has captured the full power of the sun as it beams over the horizon, ushering in a new day. The blue haze of the mountain landscape contrasts wonderfully with the yellows and pinks of the sunfilled sky.
