Almost surreal in its ethereality, this photograph of one of the world’s greatest natural wonders, The Northern Lights, was taken in the Rocky Mountains. The photograph is composed to enhance the feeling that the land is being drawn upwards. This gives the piece an almost metaphysical quality.

Another image from the Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon in Iceland, this time on a cold, clear autumnal night, as the Milky Way rose over the landscape. Even without the aurora lighting up the night sky, the beauty and richness of the stars create an ethereal scene over the ice.
