Julia Roberts, 2001.Degrees Project

I shot Julia at Elstree Studios while she was filming 'Closer'. I remember when I initially called Julia's publicist, Marcy, she told me Julia never does this sort of project; so I was a little surprised the very next day she called back saying Julia had agreed to take part. The shoot was originally arranged for NY but her schedule changed and it was decided that it would be better to wait until she was in London. I had never been to Elstree before and it was a bizarre place. You look in one direction and you had Eastenders Albert Square and in the other direction, you had the Big Brother house. For this shoot, I erected two backgrounds; a white one for a fashion style shot and a black one for a more classic shot. Julia came in and started to instantly mother me...asking if I was warm enough and do I want a cup of tea or anything. But she was very gracious and she really helped me to get some good shots...like flicking her head around to give her hair movement, as I didn't have a wind machine.
