“The Man Who Changed the Look of British Illustration” – Sir Peter Blake, March 2012
Working with clients as diverse as the New York Times, Faber and Faber, Johnnie Walker, the BBC Proms, Sony, and The Beatles, Brian’s emotive and idiosyncratic style has earned critical plaudits from around the globe – whether implemented through traditional painting and drawing or with an embrace of modern digital techniques.
Sir Peter Blake fondly describes his work:
“I love Brian Grimwood’s drawing. He has glanced at the work of some of the greatest draughtsmen ever, and produced his own way of drawing which one might assume to be easy, but those apparently loose and simple drawings can be the most difficult to achieve. There is a humour in his illustration which I very much enjoy, and an intelligent wit that I envy. His use of colour is exciting, he is a good colourist.
Brian has changed the course of illustration, both through his own work, and by almost thirty years ago, starting the Central Illustration Agency.”
“If you want to express yourself visually, then learn from one of the masters”, said Sir John Hegarty, Creative Director and Founder of Bartle Bootle Hegarty, about Brian’s work.
