See the world through the lens of the camera of Fine Art Landscape and Travel Photographer, Tim Hall

Tim Hall is a British Fine Art Photographer, who specialises in travel, landscape, and portraiture.

His drive to see the world through the lens of a camera was inspired by the romance of 19th-century travelers and more recently, National Geographic photographers.

The work is a lyrical response to the people and places that he has visited and shows his deep interest in the urban and natural world as well as the people who inhabit them. The influence of painting in his work stems from his studies of Art History at Manchester University.

The intention to strike an emotional or spiritual chord is evident in much of his landscape work, which is inspired by Rothko and Turner.

With over twenty years experience as a project-based photographer, his works are often conceived as a series, exhibited as a collective body or bought as single pieces.

During the 1990’s Tim lived in Southeast Asia for seven years and worked on publications and exhibitions which focused on the indigenous people and countries within that region. Projects included Vietnam A Portrait, Cambodia: A Portrait, Back to Mandalay, Golden Faces, Hanoi People and Hong Kong People.

In January 2012 Tim traveled to Jodhpur to document the wonders of the Blue City. Previously, his Pilgrimage series of 2003 was a project that followed the life of the Varanasi inhabitants during the January Lunar Festival – capturing remarkable scenes of worshippers in the river Ganges and dwellers of this ancient city.

Tim’s landscape photography began in Morocco, 2004 with his Dune and Oasis series. The Atlas Mountains and the Sahara desert inspired Tim to produce a collection of silver gelatin prints. By 2006, the focus was directed towards the British landscape with the Coast and Storm series. These large-scale prints (measuring 40×40 inches) present the natural world in an abstract manner, blurring the line between photography and painting.

Mlinaric Henry & Zervudachi commission Tim for various landscape projects. Recently, he shot the magical Montenegro mountains and seascapes for the new marina development: while in 2008 Tim undertook shooting the Arlberg mountains for the Aurelio hotel in Austria. This journey sparked a renewed interest in the mountains, where his main objective was to try to transpose onto paper the power, scale, and soul of the landscape.

Tim’s work is collected worldwide by institutions and private individuals – the works are available as limited edition prints, each signed, numbered and dated.

Tim lives in London and is represented by contemporary art galleries across Europe, South East Asia and the USA.
